HABITAT: A typical bird of streamsides in the southwest, rarely found away from water. Perches on low branches, dipping and fanning its tail, calling frequently. Often nests in culverts or under bridges.
IDENTIFYING MARKS: 7"; mostly dark charcoal gray, blacker on head, with white belly. Note slim shape, upright posture.
VOICE: Callnote is a sharp ringing peep. Song is thin, shrill whistles, pee-teeer, repeated.
