HABITAT: Hugs the west coast at all times, almost never seen inland. Mostly on rocks, jetties, sometimes on mudflats, beaches.
IDENTIFYING MARKS: 9 1/2"; Blackish with white belly. White face makes in breeding plumage. In winter, blacker than Ruddy Turnstone, legs usually duller. Both turnstones show strong pattern in flight.
