11/10/12 Pine Siskin (Carduelis pinus) on a sycamore tree off of the driveway.
These guys are common migrants that come through our property every winter to flock with the Lesser Goldfinches and hang out with them on the niger seed socks. They are discernible from their cousins by their brownish color and heavy streaking (no duh, Arleen!).

IDENTIFYING MARKS & BEHAVIOR: 5" Brown above, light below; brown streaked overall; long pointed bill; yellow on the wings and base of tail. Comes to bird feeders, sometimes in large numbers, for sunflower seed and thistle (niger) seed.
VOICE: Song a mixture of trills and rapid warbles; calls include a sweeyeet and a buzzing ascending zrreeeeee.
