I'm sure I'm not the only one to go slightly off the rez on this matter, but whyfore so many tit names in the bird kingdom? Titmouse, wrentit, bushtit...Clearly, tit meant something other than boobs back in the day (i.e., small songbird). Anyhoo, the oak (formerly "plain") titmouse is our resident SoCal titmouse - its acrobatic antics and cute little crest make it ridiculously adorable.
