HABITAT/BEHAVIOR: A bit slimmer than Caspian, with wispy crest, fairly thick orange bill. Underside of wingtips much paler. Forehead is white most of year (becomes black for first part of breeding season).
IDENTIFYING MARKS: 19"; Summer: Pale gray mantle; dark ring just before tip of thin yellow bill; yellow legs; yellow eye. Winter: Like summer, but light brown spotting on crown and nape. Gulls outside a fast food restaurant are almost always Ring-billed Gulls; they seem to have found a niche.
