HABITAT: Flocks of Godwits stand on flooded tidal flats in winter, probing the mud with their bills. Very common along Pacific coast. In summer, they nest around marshes on the northern prairies.
IDENTIFYING MARKS: 18"; Very large, evenly warm brown, with dark barring (heavier in summer). Long, slightly up curved bill has pink at base.
VOICE: Loud ringing kaweap.
